An 82-year-old Middleburg woman is facing a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge after a deputy found her dog locked inside a hot car last week, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

A Clearwater woman was charged with animal cruelty this week after leaving her dog in a hot car for 40 minutes while she was at the beach, police said.

Flagler County deputies smashed a car window on Monday to rescue a 1-year-old who was locked inside with the engine off and the windows closed.

The child found inside a vehicle in the parking lot at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville Beach was 2-years-old.

A Baker County mother of four is accused of leaving her kids unattended in a car for at least 20 minutes on Friday, which was noted as one of the hottest days of the month, according to a Baker County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
