The Jeep left the wet roadway and spun onto the east grass shoulder at mile marker 388 at about 3:30 p.m., troopers said. It traveled through a ditch and struck a tree line with its front, then hit a second tree on the driver's side door.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dyamond Asbury, 18, of Miami, who was a passenger in the Jeep, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville.

Troopers said Morgan was not wearing a seat belt, and Asbury was wearing one.
