FHP: Semi crashes over barrier, lands halfway down embankment

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A tractor trailer and two cars collided Tuesday afternoon on I-95 north at Beaver Street, sending the semi careening over a concrete barrier and halfway down a steep embankment, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The drivers of the cars and one passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash, which was reported about 1:15 p.m. The semi driver, who is from Greensboro, N.C., was not hurt, troopers said.

The tractor trailer was loaded with 25,000 pounds of non-hazardous cargo, and it took crews more than two hours to remove the trailer from the embankment and reopen lanes to traffic.
