JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado and killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Jacksonville's Westside.
Troopers identified the pedestrian as 31-year-old Jason Stewart Ketchem of Jacksonville. He died at the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol crash report, the 21-year-old driver of the truck was headed west on US 90 about 1:30 a.m. and didn't see Ketchem walking in the roadway in the dark.
The driver remained at the scene, and no charges were listed in the report.
All lanes of US-90 (West Beaver Street) were blocked at Otis Road. Drivers were encouraged to use I-10 as an alternate route. FHP reopened all lanes just before 7 a.m.
This is the second deadly crash Tuesday morning that troopers were called to. One person was also killed in a two-car crash on I-295 at New Kings Road.
