FHP: 1 killed, 1 seriously injured in crash on Northwest Jacksonville No description found
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A driver from Tampa died in an overnight crash in Northwest Jacksonville. A second driver was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Antuan Lenard Shaw, 33, was killed in the two-car crash that took place on I-295 northbound at New Kings Road around 1:15 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators said his Nissan Sentra ran off the roadway before crashing into the barriers on the intersate. FHP said a second driver, Antonio Christopher, was unable to avoid the Nissan and crashed into it. Christopher was transported to UF Health.
Both drivers were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the wreck, FHP said.
This is the second deadly crash within the hour that troopers were dispatched to. Shortly after this crash, a pedestrian was struck and killed on US-90 at Otis Road.
