68-year-old pedestrian hit, killed by semi in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 68-year-old man was hit and killed early Tuesday morning while walking on County Road 232 in Gainesville, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported just after 1 a.m. on CR 232, just west of State Road 24.

Troopers said a tractor-trailer was headed east on CR 232 when it struck the man, who was walking in the eastbound travel lane of CR 232.

The man died at the scene.

The 60-year-old man driving the semi and his 30-year-old passenger were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
