62-year-old woman hit by SUV, killed on Jacksonville’s Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 62-year-old woman was hit by an SUV late Monday night while crossing U.S. 17 (North Main Street) at Busch Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said an SUV was headed south on U.S. 17 in the right turn lane just after 11 p.m. Monday and the driver wasn’t able to avoid the woman in the road. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The 56-year-old woman driving the SUV was not hurt. She was wearing a seat belt, FHP said.
