LAKE BUTLER, Fla. – A 23-year-old driver died early Thursday morning when his car went airborne during a crash in Lake Butler, and he was thrown from the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man, who was from Lake City, was headed north on County Road 18A in Union County just after midnight when he missed a curve and drove onto the right grass shoulder.

The car kept going, according to the report, and hit the edge of Southwest 63rd Drive, which sent the car airborne over the road before it landed on the opposite shoulder.
Troopers said the man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
