MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 42-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon when he was hit by a car while chopping up a tree that was down on County Road 329 in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was standing on CR 329 near the white painted edge of the highway, about a mile north of CR 320, and was using a chainsaw to cut a tree that was down in the roadway.

A 76-year-old woman headed south on CR 329 around 4:20 p.m. hit both the tree and the man with the chainsaw. The man died at the scene, FHP said.
The woman was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, according to the report.
FHP said troopers are still investigating the crash.
