JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The daughter of a woman who witnessed a crash on Lem Turner Road that killed two teens and critically injured a 28-year-old said Monday her mother remains traumatized after seeing a pickup hauling a trailer strike two vehicles and slam into a building.
Tyana Armstrong said she was on the phone with her mother when the Saturday wreck happened and urged her to call 911.
“By the time I called back she was like kids was in the car. Hit one car and he kept speeding and hit another truck, which went into the side of the Wells Fargo building,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong said her mother described the Dodge — which was pulling a trailer — landing on top of a Toyota Camry while the driver of the Dodge continued trying to move the vehicle.
“He hit the Camry, and his truck ended up on top of the Camry. And as he was on top of the Camry he was trying to keep driving. Kept accelerating then put the car in reverse. He did that about 4 or 5 times,” Armstrong said.
The crash shut down Lem Turner Road for hours. Investigators said speed and braking played a role after the Dodge, heading downhill, went over the Camry.
Officials said two teenagers were killed and a 28-year-old driver was critically injured; authorities have not released their identities. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officials said the driver of the Dodge, a man in his 50s, was cooperating with investigators.
Armstrong said her mother has struggled since the crash. “She hasn’t slept in about two days,” Armstrong said.
Jacksonville has seen an increase in fatal crashes this year, with 107 so far in 2026 compared with 89 at the same time last year.
Authorities continue to investigate the Saturday crash and News4JAX is working to learn the identities of the teens.
