Two dead in Ponte Vedra Boulevard crash, according to county commissioner

Two people are dead after a crash Sunday on Ponte Vedra Boulevard in St. Johns County, according to District 4 Commissioner Krista Joseph. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene in the 1100 block of Ponte Vedra Boulevard. The road was shut down in both directions as crews worked the crash. Joseph told News4JAX this stretch of A1A can be dangerous, pointing to drivers passing when they get impatient. “People are not patient enough to stay behind the car that’s going the speed limit, and they’ll a lot of times pass over the double yellow line,” Joseph said. “I’m not sure what caused this accident … but it’s just so sad to hear people were killed.”Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. No additional information about the victims has been released.
