Sickle cell disease affects about 100-thousand people in the U.S., but for one local father, those numbers are deeply personal. Cary Sparrow lost his daughter to the disease after watching her endure years of painful health challenges. Now, as his family prepares to celebrate her life, Sparrow is turning his grief into a mission raising awareness about sickle cell disease, encouraging people to understand their own sickle cell trait status, and sharing what he wishes more people knew.
