DCPS superintendent explains how 1 mill property tax is spent on schools
The Jacksonville City Council is delaying a vote on a proposed ballot measure to renew the school district's property tax levy, which is used in part to boost teacher pay. Voters approved a 1 mill property tax increase nearly four years ago. Now, the district wants voter approval to extend the existing tax -- not to pay any more tax.
