JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Car enthusiasts gather this weekend in Amelia Island for the Concours d'Elegance, the weather looks for the most part, quite cooperative. According to the event's facebook page, the event is in its second decade, The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has been recognized as one of the top automotive events in the world. Always held the second full weekend in March, “The Amelia” draws over 300 rare vehicles from collections around the world to The Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach and The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for a celebration of the automobile like no other. Since 1996, the show’s Foundation has donated over $2.5 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc. and other deserving charities on Florida’s First Coast. The 22nd annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is scheduled for March 10-17, 2017.

The rain in the forecast for Sunday has forced a schedule change of events, here is the latest from Maria Hayworth, President of Hayworth PR:

We have heard from the producers of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance that due to Sunday's rainy weather forecast, they are moving the main event on Sunday to coincide with Saturday's events. Please help us communicate this change to your readers/listners/viewers. The new schedule is as follows:
Saturday, March 11, Cars & Coffee at the Concours: 9am until 5pm
Saturday, March 11, Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance 9:30am until 5pm

The festivities kick off on Thursday with The SHop at the Concours, The Amelia Island Concours Silent Auction, and the Guardians of Porsche Wine Maker's Dinner. The forecast for Thursday is mostly clear skies, with temperatures starting in the low 50s and warming into the upper 70s, topping out at 77°. Winds will be light, out of the Northeast between 5-10 mph. 

Friday starts early with the Porsche Driving Experience at 7:00a.m.- for that temperatures will be in the cool mid 50s with mostly clear skies- you'll definitely need your sunglasses all day Friday.  By the time the Japanese Racing- the Men Behind the Victories seminar starts at 3:00p.m., the temperatures will have warmed into the upper 70s for the afternoon hours.  During the RM Sotheby's cocktail reception , the temperatures will begin their evening descent. Overnight they will sink down into the upper 50s. 

Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies for the MotorXpo and Cars & Coffee. Temperatures will warm up to 70°. The day will be beautiful and cool. A very strong onshore breeze will build up, out of the northeast between 12-17 mph.  A 50% chance for an isolated shower  builds into the overnight forecast after midnight.

Sunday starts in the upper 50s thanks to mostly cloudy skies. Expect showers, with 70% chances to see rain.  Despite the clouds, temperatures will still warm into the mid to low 60s.
