More pockets of heavy rain could return this afternoon with thunderstorms that build in the heat.

Moisture with the weak low pressure spins ashore will drive rain farther inland through the day. Some of the heaviest rainfall will lift across Duval County later this afternoon into southern Georgia and out to Macclenny and Lake City by the early evening.

Today will reach a high near 88 with northwest winds around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

The low is unlikely to develop any further before drifting ashore this afternoon. Pressure has not fallen and winds offshore are steady near 15 mph.

This week starts a new wet pattern that will continue with rounds of afternoon rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

Heat and humid conditions will produce heat indices near 105 each day.
