At 9:15 a.m. Friday, an update from the National Hurricane Center indicated that the disturbance moving through the Caribbean had become Tropical Storm Bonnie, the second named storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
According to CSU Meteorologist Philip Klotzbach only five other named storms have formed in the Caribbean during July:

According to the 5 p.m. update from the NHC, the storm was expected to make landfall Friday night. Heavy rains had begun in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Max sustained winds were 45 mph
According to forecasters, a westward or west-northwestward motion is expected into Monday.
“On the forecast track, the system will move across southern Nicaragua and northern Costa Rica tonight, and emerge over the eastern Pacific Ocean on Saturday. The system will then move offshore of but parallel to the coasts of El Salvador, Guatemala, and southern Mexico Saturday through Monday,” the NHC said.
