A line of thunderstorms stretching from Putnam to southern Duval County will continue to drift east into St. Johns County through 10 pm. Lightning, heavy rain and brief wind gusts will be possible as the line of storms weakens.
The pattern continues this weekend. Locally heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts will be the main storm hazards. Areas that have received heavy rainfall have an enhanced risk of temporary flooding.
Evening: Showers with thunderstorms, some locally heavy with strong wind gusts through 11 p.m.
Saturday: The southerly breeze will help steer afternoon showers and thunderstorms across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, 40-70 percent. Locally heavy rain and strong wind gusts will be possible in stronger storms. Lows will be in the 70s. Afternoon highs will reach the 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Feel like temperatures around 100 degrees. Wind: South-southeast at 10-15 mph. Showers with storms end after sunset with patchy fog developing overnight.
Happy Father’s Day: Get the BBQ going early as the summer pattern continues. Hot and humid with showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and lingering through late evening. Lows in the 70s. Highs in the 90s. Rain chances 50-70 percent.
