Rain chances will increase through the weekend for southeast Georgia and northeast Florida.
Here is what we can expect: Waves of rain with thunderstorms possible along and north of I-10 through tonight. Locally heavy rainfall is expected across southeast Georgia on Saturday with heavy rainfall chances increasing across northeast Florida Saturday night through Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible area-wide.
Periods of heavy rainfall will sweep across northeast Florida late Saturday night through Sunday evening. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible south of I-10, but severe storms are not anticipated.
Tonight: Showers with storms early near and along I-10 and SE GA. Showers possible overnight for SE GA.
Saturday: The majority of rainfall on Saturday is expected to be over Georgia, mainly north and west of Waycross. However, instability and a few more sun breaks may allow a few showers and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm to form over northeast FL. Lows in the 40s and 50s. Afternoon highs in the 50s for SE GA, 60s and 70s for NE FL. Rain chances: 70 - 90 percent for SE GA, 30-70 percent for NE FL. Wind: NW 5-10 mph. Rain moves south overnight.
Saturday night and Sunday: Higher rain chances will shift south on Saturday night and through Sunday as the front slowly nudges southward, with the highest chances expected to be across northeast FL, especially near the I-10 corridor. Morning lows in the 40s and 50s for SE GA, 50s and 60s for NE FL. Highs in the 50s and 60s for SE GA, 60s to low 70s for NE FL. Wind: NE 5-15 mph. Rain chances: 40 - 50 percent for SE GA, 60-80 percent for NE FL. Rain slowly ends overnight.
Sunday night: Drier air slowly moves into the region. A second front approaches from the northwest, entering southeast GA early Monday.
Cooler temperatures are expected next week with possible light freeze, frost for inland areas Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
