JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Make sure to look up in the sky this weekend!

Every year, one of the best meteor showers, known as the Geminids meteor shower, illuminates the skies during mid-December, and this year, it will peak on Dec. 12 and 13.

PEAKS DECEMBER 13-14TH 2025

The Geminids are best viewed at night and just before dawn. Make sure you are in an unobstructed area away from lights for the best viewing conditions.

Meteors come from leftover comet particles and bits from asteroids. When Earth passes through the leftover comet particles and bits, they create the colorful streaks in the sky!

The next meteor shower is the Ursids meteor shower, which peaks later this month on Dec. 22.
