Warm Saturday, Cloudy and cooler for Game Day

Record highs were reached today in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia.

Jacksonville tied a record of 83 degrees, set in 1974. Alma, GA set a new record of 80 degrees beating the old record of 79 degrees in 1974. Gainesville, FL also tied the record of 83 degrees set in 1989.

Patchy to areas of dense fog is expected again tonight and early Saturday. Near record highs will give way to a chilly start to the week.

Inland fog is expected tonight and early Saturday. At this time, there are no advisories; some may be issued from Highway 301 to I-75.

After a foggy start, highs will climb to near record range on Saturday. Cloudy skies will develop late Saturday night with a chance of showers through around noon on Sunday. Rain totals will be light and rain chances will hover around 10 to 20 percent. The breeze will increase from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph with gust around 20 mph. Skies will clear during the game and overnight for a much colder start to the week.

The record high for Saturday is 82 degrees, set in 1957.

The seasonal chill returns Monday and Tuesday with a Light Freeze and widespread frost possible across inland southeast Georgia and areas west of Highway 301 and north of I-10.

Tonight: Mild with patchy to dense fog.

Saturday: Patchy to dense fog early then becoming partly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 50s and 60s with highs in the 70s and 80s. Wind: SSW 5-10 mph. Cloudy skies overnight.

Game Day: A cloudy start with a slight chance of showers, 10 - 20 percent through around noon. Tailgating temperatures in the upper 50s with game time temperatures in the upper 60s. Turning cold overnight with a light freeze and frost possible early next week.

Looking ahead: Much colder temperatures late next week with some models showing the chance of SNOW in Georgia.
