High pressure brings dry weather despite cold start

Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory in effect through mid-morning

High pressure will be in control today.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s another cold start to our morning with temperatures for most spots in the 30s. A Freeze Warning and a Frost Advisory remain in effect north and west of the metro through 8 a.m.

Wednesday's high temperatures.

Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 60s this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. High pressure will remain overhead which means we will be dry. Make sure to keep the jacket handy!

This evening temperatures will drop into the 60s and overnight, we will be in the 40s and 50s. It’s not as cold tonight as it was this morning due to a cloudy sky.

Temperatures will rise into the 70s later this week.

High pressure will remain overhead through the end of the week, which means we will see more sunshine. Look for high temperatures to climb to near 70 degrees Wednesday into the weekend.

A winter storm is likely across a portion of the Southeast this weekend.

Another system will develop later this week into the weekend. There will be enough cold air and moisture to bring potentially a significant ice storm to the Southeast. Right now, the wintry weather (primarily freezing rain) will be across the Carolinas into north Georgia and Alabama.

We will continue to monitor temperatures closely, but it appears we will rain later this weekend into early next week.
