The Weather Authority Alert continues
The Tornado Watch has been extended across northeast Florida through 8 p.m. The storms will clear the area well before around 5 - 6 p.m.
Prefrontal showers and storms, some strong to severe, are approaching the beaches and will continue to move offshore through late afternoon. Round two, the cold front, is currently moving through Lake City and will reach JAX around 3 - 4 p.m. Brief heavy rain, frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds will be the main hazards. Isolated tornadoes will be possible in stronger storms.
Following the front, clearing skies with late winter temperatures. Patchy frost with a light freeze will be possible over southeast Georgia and north of I-10.
Temperatures will be much warmer by the end of the week with sunny skies and highs in the 80s for the first weekend of Spring. Spring starts at 10:46 a.m. Friday.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy and much cooler. Light freeze and patchy frost, mainly over SE GA. Moring lows in the 30s for SE GA, 30s and 40s for NE FL. Afternoon highs in the 50s. Wind: NW 10-15 mph. Chilly overnight with clear skies. Light freeze and patchy frost.
Wednesday: Light freeze and patchy frost early then mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Morning lows in the 30s and 40s. Afternoon highs in the 50s and 60s. Wind: NE 10-15 mph. Mostly clear overnight, not as cold.
Looking ahead: Warming through the rest of the week and weekend. Near seasonal temperatures on Thursday then climbing through the weekend.
