JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s the first day of spring, and it’s going to FEEL like spring!
We saw a cooler start to the day, but highs will be right on track for this time of year, into the mid-70s and mid-to-upper 60s along the coast.
Winds calm down, allowing for patchy fog to develop Saturday morning.
We have a much warmer weekend ahead as highs return to the 80s.
The next chance of rain looks like mid-next week.
Right now, our counties across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia are locked in extreme drought.
That means it’s critical to be mindful about water usage. Conserve wherever you can—cooking, lawns, even quick showers.
The new drought map just came out Thursday, and it’s a good reminder that every drop really does matter.
Warm, dry weekend ahead
Highs are expected to shoot up to 74 degrees today as spring kicks off. Tomorrow looks even toastier with highs near 84 degrees.
Sunday? We’re going for 88 degrees, and that could be within a degree of the record high.
Overnight, look for clear and cool skies, with lows mostly in the 50s and even a chance of some morning fog as you start your Saturday.
Rip currents and beach safety
If you’re headed to the beaches today, please be careful. There’s a moderate to high rip current risk along our Northeast Florida beaches, and Southeast Georgia isn’t far behind with a moderate risk.
