Coastal Winds Top 40 Mph as Showers Dampen Beaches

Northeast winds to intensify again this weekend bringing marine hazards

The cool, cloudy and windy conditions will continue overnight.

Batten down the hatches and secure the deck chairs as the strong onshore flow continues. Wind gusts have topped 40 mph with a report of a Pine Tree down in Oceanway. A few showers have reached the beaches, leaving damp sand and pavement.

The steady onshore flow is expected on Wednesday, although a little weaker then diminishing after sunset. Warmer temperatures return Thursday and Friday before another surge from the northeast settles in this weekend.

Strong coastal winds and marine hazards with near-seasonal temperatures for this weekend. The increasing northeasterly flow will bring a slight chance of a passing shower to our coastal counties on Saturday and Sunday. The northeast wind will again increase to 15-20 mph with stronger gusts.

Wednesday: Windy with passing showers and isolated thunderstorms through late afternoon, followed by clearing skies overnight into early Thursday morning. Rain chances are 30-40 percent. Wind: NE 15-20 mph with stronger gusts. Lows in the 50s and 60s. Highs in the 60s and 70s. Clearing skies overnight.

Warmer temperatures with less wind in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.
