Isolated storms possible as temperatures climb into the 80s this week

Extreme drought persists despite isolated rain chances

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The rest of the day will be partly to mostly cloudy and breezy with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Winds could gust up to 30 mph at times for the rest of the day. A few isolated showers and storms are possible, especially along and west of the St. Johns River.

Patchy fog will be possible on Tuesday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy and cool with temperatures in the 50s. Patchy fog will develop overnight away from the coast, especially for those locations that see any shower or storm.

An area of high pressure will remain offshore on Tuesday. This will bring a southeasterly wind to our area. Highs for most will be near 80 degrees.

Use caution if you will be at the beach tomorrow, there’s a high risk for rip currents along the coast.

Isolated showers and storms are possible tomorrow afternoon and evening. Especially along and west of the St. Johns River.

Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects the overall pattern over the past few months. Most of our area remains in an extreme drought. An exceptional drought classification has been expanded to include more of our area. Little if any improvement is expected over the upcoming week.
