Artemis II Launch Favored by 80 Percent Weather Odds

Rain chances rise late weekend with drought relief possible

Nasa’s Artemis II Mission continues at an 80 percent chance for a favorable launch weather rating. Thickening clouds and wind over 20 mph could be a launch factor.

The warming trend continues with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies over mainly inland areas with partly cloudy skies along our beaches. The best viewing for the Artemis Launch will be along our beaches. Inland areas will be able to catch a glimpse of the rocket through the clouds.

The models continue to show increasing moisture along with an increasing chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms through early next week. The areas west of the River, near Highway 301 to I-75, will see a few showers and possibly an isolated storm Thursday and Friday. The rain chances will return late Sunday and build through Tuesday as the extreme to exceptional drought conditions continue area-wide.

Patchy to dense fog will be possible for inland areas through Sunday morning. Along our beaches, the onshore wind and waves will keep a moderate risk for Rip Currents through this weekend.

Tonight: Patchy to areas of dense fog.

Thursday: A warm afternoon under partly cloudy skies. Patchy to areas of dense fog for inland areas then becoming partly cloudy with a light breeze. A few showers and isolated storms will be possible, 20 percent. Wake up temperatures in the upper 50s to 60s. Afternoon highs in the 80s inland with 70s along the beaches. Partly cloudy with patchy to dense fog overnight. Wind: SE 5-15 mph.

Friday: A weak front will develop along our coastal zones, increasing our chances for showers and thunderstorms. The rain chances will average around 30-40 percent as the onshore winds increase from the southeast at 10-15 mph. Lows in the upper 50s to 60s. Highs in the 80s inland, 70s along the beaches.

Weekend: Rain chances will increase late Sunday through Tuesday. Rainfall totals look promising with the GFS showing the potential for up to an inch and a half of rain along our coastal zones.
