JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sunday stays mostly dry and very warm. Inland areas could see highs climb into the low to mid-90s, while spots closer to the coast will top out in the upper 80s. Tonight will stay mild, with lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
If you’re heading to the beach, there’s a moderate rip current risk in effect at all area beaches.
Fog, storms possible to start the week
Patchy fog is possible inland during the early morning hours both Monday and Tuesday, so give yourself extra time if you’re hitting the road before sunrise.
By afternoon and into the early evening, isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible inland on both days. These won’t be washout storms, but it’s always smart to keep an eye on the sky and have a plan B ready.
Dangerous heat closes out the week
The most significant weather story of the week arrives Friday and Saturday. Heat index values, the feels like temperatures, are expected to climb to between 100 and 105 degrees those afternoons. Stay hydrated, avoid extended time outdoors during the hottest part of the day and check on elderly neighbors, young children and pets.
