JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Since the beginning of July 2026, the spot that records the official temperatures of the day has seen nine (after today, 10) “feels like” temperatures over 108 degrees.
While that number seems high, it’s not nearly the number we had in 2025, 2024, or 2023.
According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the excessive number of high heat index values has become a common theme for the month of July over the past 4 summers. Another dangerously hot and humid day is on track for Wednesday 7/29 with heat indices expected in the 110-115F range, but not likely to reach the impressive peak heat index of 118F (T 99F/Td 79F) set last year on 7-29-2025.
Our region is likely looking at another Heat Advisory on Thursday, possibly Friday, to end the month of July with either 11, maybe 12 days, of “feels like” temperatures over 108 degrees.
