Parent Power Hour: News4JAX parents share real stories, concerns as they prepare for the new school year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Welcome to Parent Power Hour, a conversation between News4JAX parents who recently sat down to share their experiences and advice about an important topic.

We are entering the back-to-school season, and that can be a challenging time for some families. Maybe your child is starting a new grade, a new school or starting school for the first time.

It’s overwhelming for some parents with what can feel like a million questions and concerns, but also excitement and pride in their students as they take on this new challenge.

News4JAX anchor Joy Purdy, a mother herself, hosted our panel of News4JAX team members. They all have children in different grades with different experiences, and they sat down together to talk about the upcoming school year.

Our panel includes:

  • Ashley Harding: Anchor and mother to incoming 3rd grader Cal
  • Matt Kinzig: Editor and father to incoming 2nd grader Savannah and 6th grader Hayden
  • Jason Phillips: Editor and father of incoming kindergartener Keegan and 11th grader Brennan
  • Travis Gibson: Digital reporter and father to incoming preschooler Axel
