Woman accused of shooting ex-boyfriend in leg after dispute at Oretga apartment complex: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman shot a man in the leg during a domestic dispute at an Oretga apartment complex Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded around 10:35 a.m. to Courtney Manor Apartments at 5620 Collins Road, after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man believed to be in his mid-20s with a single gunshot wound to the leg.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital, where his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

JSO said the man and woman were previously in a romantic relationship and had separated several months ago. The man had gone to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, where the two began talking before an argument broke out, according to JSO.

During the argument, the woman shot the man in the leg, JSO said.

The suspect, a woman believed to be in her mid-40s, remained at the scene and was detained by officers. Investigators believe the incident was isolated.

Crime Scene Detectives are processing the scene for evidence. Detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit are interviewing witnesses, canvassing for surveillance video and following up on investigative leads.
