NFL Suspends Matt Jones For Season's Last 3 Games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The NFL on Tuesday suspended Jaguars receiver Matt Jones without pay for the team's final three regular-season games for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.

Jones, 25, was arrested July 10 in Fayetteville, Ark., after a police officer said he saw him inside a car allegedly cutting up cocaine with a credit card.

In October, an Arkansas judge agreed to send Jones' case to drug court, where he will be allowed to undergo an intervention program and serve 30 hours of community service to avoid serving any time in jail.

Prosecutors said the felony cocaine possession charge will be dismissed if Jones finishes the drug program, which they said he can complete in Arkansas after the NFL season ends.

Jones' NFL suspension begins immediately.
