Tyrone Hartsfield Due To Be Sentenced On Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The man convicted last month of shooting Jaguars player Richard Collier was back in court Monday and told the judge his trial should have been moved out of Jacksonville because of pretrial publicity in the case.

During a hearing in advance of his scheduled sentencing on Thursday, Hartsfield addressed the judge on the publicity issue, he complained that prosecution witness, Stefphan Wilson, was paid for his testimony and said a statement made by detective in the presentencing report was inaccurate.

Prosecutors countered that Wilson was not paid for his testimony, although the cost of his travel from Georgia was picked up by the state, which is standard for witnesses.

Judge Mallory Cooper told Hartsfield that the matters brought up to her should be addressed by his lawyer in the appeal.
