WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE TOP THREE ISSUES IN THIS RACE?

  • The county and city need to collaborate, cooperate and communicate effectively with one another for a more concise vision and efficient workspace. We may not always get along, but we can always work together for a brighter future. To do this, I suggest the county and city institute monthly work sessions to understand where each side is coming from, find out how the two units can work together for positive change, and get a better grasp on the grand picture for our entire county.
  • Maintaining a balanced business environment is a key issue in our community. With our population growing, we have the ability to attract bigger, corporate business to the Golden Isles. We are seeing that with the opening of several national restaurant chains and retail shops. These nationally-recognized names certainly provide employment opportunities, and are an asset to the community. At the same time, we need to ensure that smaller, community-based businesses are not pushed out of the picture. Our community is unique in that we have a thriving small business sector, and this needs to stay strong as the Golden Isles grows. To do this, we need to support institutions such as the Downtown Business Association and the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center.
We, too, need to look at Historic Preservation of downtown Brunswick, enhancing the current movement of growth and eliminating blight, which could factor into promoting small business. There is a growing movement in our county and the nation as a whole to breathe new life in historic districts through small business owners. Now is the optimal time to examine how our community can continue the sparks of energy being felt currently in our own downtown sector. This also includes finding an effective plan to clean up Norwich Street, the Altama Corridor and improve our county Gateway Entrances.
  • We need to examine the smaller details of our community that may not be as glamorous, but are just as important. This includes finding the funding to renovate our outdated 911 Call Center, and promoting outdoor recreation through public safety, such as ensuring our parks are outfitted with AED/ Defibrillators in case of emergencies and make sure our coaching staff are first aid/CPR certified. These smaller details can get lost between the cracks, but need to be dealt with effectively.

  • HOW DO YOU THINK YOU CAN HELP VOTERS IN A WAY OTHERS IN THIS RACE CAN'T?

    • No response

WHAT WOULD YOU HOPE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR ACCOMPLISHING AFTER SERVING IN THIS OFFICE?

    • "As being the person who brought Brunswick back to its rightful place in our community. I would like to see businesses thrive in our entire downtown sector. I would like to see city and county leaders agreeing to be on the same page. I would like to see the area residents take pride in their neighborhoods and see tourist not only on our island, but also in the mainland. I would like to be the person that brought that vision to the forefront and made it more than a mere vision. I would like to be remembered as the person who made that vision a reality."
