4-year anniversary of U.S. army soldier's capture

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl believed held by Taliban in Pakistan

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban four years ago Sunday. To commemorate that event, a Florida chapter of the Rolling Thunder rode around town.

Bikers stopped by several media outlets on Sunday, including Channel 4's, before ending at the Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Memorial at Cecil Commerce Center.

"If Bowe was your son or you had a daughter, what would you be doing today if they were incarcerated for four years, which is four years too long?" asked one of the riders who only gave his name as Robert.

With that statement came a call for immediate action: Bring Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl home.

"It took the government 18 years to bring Scott Speicher home. Way too long," said Robert. "The government has got to move. Whatever we got to do, we got to do."

Officials believe Bergdahl is being held in Pakistan by an insurgent group affiliated with the Taliban. Several videos showing him in captivity have been released by the Taliban.

For Ros Echols, this is more personal.

"When we send a young man to war, he should expect that we'll account for him," said Echols.

Echols served during the Vietnam War and has reserved the sidecar to his motorcycle for Bowe when he's released.

"He needs to be home. He's in Pakistan. We're sending aid to Pakistan, cut off the aid to Pakistan," said Echols. "If we have to trade four or five, one hundred of our POW's to get him back, he's worth a lot more than that."

With this ride, these men and women hope their efforts will inspire others to do their part to bring this young man back.

"Call your congressman, call your senator, call the governor, call the mayor, call everybody," said Echols.
