JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A 62-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle when he stepped onto Beach Boulevard just west of San Pablo Road Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on Beach Boulevard near Thalia Road about 7:30 p.m.

Troopers said a Hyundai Sonata was going east on Beach Boulevard when the man, whose name has not been released, stepped into the road.
The man died at the scene.
FHP said the driver, Marlyn Santos, 33, of Jacksonville, stopped and was cooperating with investigators.
Troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident. FHP is investigating who was at fault in the crash and whether charges will be filed against the driver.
The inside eastbound lane and westbound turn lane of Beach Boulevard were closed much of the evening while troopers investigated.
