Court documents are shedding light on a previous arrest a year before deputies say Kevin Hoffman hit and killed Delinda Heinrich while she was riding her scooter in St. Augustine. It happened on July 8, 2026.
A video shows Hoffman’s car crashing after investigators say he was driving 90 miles per hour on a 45-mph road. Deputies say Hoffman has been driving drunk.

Before that crash, Hoffman had been arrested on March 29, 2025, according to court records.
Deputies said they saw Hoffman, “in the Wawa Parking Lot sitting in their vehicle chugging an alcoholic beverage.”
When deputies arrived in March of 2025, Hoffman standing next to his Tesla, stumbling and attempting to stand up.
When Hoffman saw police, the report says he:
“Entered the driver seat of his car and activated the vehicle...deputies could smell alcohol on Hoffman.”
There was a half-emptied bottle of Tito’s 750 ML the passenger seat, according to the report.
The deputy had to stop Hoffman from leaving. Hoffman was arrested for DUI with a breath sample of .280 and .270
In court Hoffman enter no contest, and the DUI first offense was reduced to reckless driving. He was on probation for 364 days.
He had a series of special conditions including completing an Alcohol Safety Education Course and Victim Impact Panel Program.
Hoffman completed the requirements of his probation and qualified for his probation to be dropped early. He and his probation officer enter the request on May 28th, 2026.
Court records show his probation was dropped early on June 1, 2026.
One month, and seven days later; deputies say Hoffman was driving at 90 miles per hour when his car crashed and led to the death of Delinda Heinrich.
