FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old man accidentally shot himself Thursday night, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The Sheriff's Office said it received a call around 7:04 p.m. from Florida Hospital Flagler after the man was taken to the emergency room by his mother with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Deputies said the man was then taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for treatment of his non-life-threatening wound.

After interviewing the man, investigator said they learned he accidentally shot himself at his home near Bayberry Village Road and Old Dixie Highway. 

The Sheriff's Office said it expects to send a charging affidavit to the State Attorney's Office for review after the investigation is completed.
