Road reopens after Northside train derailment

No one injured when 1 car leaves track

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A CSX train carrying 97 cars derailed on Jacksonville's Northside early Thursday morning.

There were no injuries.

A CSX spokesperson said one car left the tracks around 1:20 a.m. at the intersection of Airport Center Drive and North Main Street. That crossing was closed for nearly six hours while workers tried to get the train back on the tracks and moving.

CSX said the derailed car was carrying pulpwood. None of the product spilled from the car. It remained at the scene while the rest of the train was moved just after 7 a.m.

The train was traveling from Yulee to Waycross.
