Friends remember Jacksonville native killed in Atlanta

Detectives have no suspect, motive in fatal shooting of aspiring actress

ATLANTA – As Atlanta detectives work to find out who shot and killed Jokisha Brown while she was sitting in her car, Friday night, friends are remembering the woman who grew up in Jacksonville as Kisha.

The aspiring actress and model would have turned 36 the day after she was killed.

"It was a shock," said Kevin Sapp, who hasn't seen Brown since she moved to Atlanta. "It was sadness and it was hurt because I knew her personally."

Sapp said she made a lasting impression that he won't forget her any time soon.

"She was beautiful, inside and out," Sapp said. "And if you could see the pictures of her, how beautiful she was, she was that way on the inside also. Just a real sweet, kindhearted person."

For Brown's family, the loss is all too familiar. Kisha's brother, Marlon Brice, was killed in March during a shootout at Jacksonville's Silver Fox Gentlemen's Club.

In addition to looking for her killer, Atlanta detectives are also looking for a motive.

"I don't know why because she was not that kind of person to make enemies," Sapp said.

Sapp described Brown as "someone that you will always remember; that you will never have something bad to say about when they're gone. When that person's gone, you'll remember that person for the rest of your life."

Kisha's family has set up a GoFundMe account for contributions to help with her funeral cost.
