ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – David Shoar was sworn in earlier this week for his fourth consecutive term as St. Johns County’s Sheriff.
Shoar is currently in his 36th year of law enforcement service, and has served as the chief of police in St. Augustine in addition to having spent 12 years as St. Johns County’s Sheriff.

“It is both and honor and a privilege to be allowed to continue serving the people of St. Johns County and the rich traditions of Florida sheriffs,” Shoar said. “To call historic St. Johns County my home, while serving in both law enforcement and military circles, has been one of my life’s greatest experiences.”
Additionally, he retired from the Florida National Guard after 24 years of military service, where he served both in peacetime and during the first Gulf War.
