Man arrested in October crash that killed mother, adult son

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with an October crash in the Lakeshore neighborhood that killed a mother and her adult son, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

Levon Leonard Jones is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.

Alice Stockdale, 68, was driving west on Birkenhead Road, just off Roosevelt Boulevard, about 10 p.m. Oct. 18 when her vehicle was struck by another car at the intersection of Hamilton Street, police said. She and her passenger, Branden Stockdale, 36, were killed on impact, investigators said.

The driver of the other car, Jones, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Three months later, Jones, who had an active arrest warrant, turned himself in to police, according to JSO.
