FLORIDA – A confirmed 6.1 magnitude earthquake reported about 65 miles from Mantua, Cuba, has rattled parts of Florida on Monday, including Northeast Florida.
According to the National Weather Service Miami, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred just west of Cuba in the southern Gulf around 2 p.m.
No injuries or damage were immediately reported.

Social media was quickly flooded with posts from residents across Southwest and Central Florida who were puzzled by the rumble felt across the region.

According to the NWS, there is no threat of a tsunami.
JaxReady, the city of Jacksonville’s emergency preparedness division, said it received reports from Northeast Florida residents who also said they experienced the aftershock.
