Jacksonville man charged with soliciting child for sex, deputies say

Kameron Ruhe, 24, arrested on SJC warrant

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday on three felony charges after he started talking earlier this month to an undercover detective who he thought was a child, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said.

Kameron Brennen Ruhe, 24, is charged with transmitting harmful materials to a minor, unlawful use of a two-way communication device and use of a computer to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child or person believed to be a child to commit an unlawful sexual act with a child.

Earlier this month, detectives said they began an investigation to target people using the internet to sexually exploit children.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Ruhe responded to an undercover detective who he thought was a child and began a conversation.

He also tried to meet the "child," and sent the detective a photo of him exposing himself, investigators said.

Deputies said they obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office found Ruhe on Friday and arrested him on the warrant.

Ruhe was booked into the Duval County Jail on $30,000 bond, according to jail records.

If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison on the charges.
