Police: 3 seriously injured in NW Jacksonville drive-by shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three people were seriously injured in a drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. 

Police said the triple shooting happened just after 4 p.m. at New Kings and Edgewood roads.

According to the Sheriff's Office, three people were in a white four-door sedan heading east on Edgewood Road when another car pulled up next to them and opened fire. One of the three occupants in the white sedan was hit in the head, and the other two were shot in the torso, police said.

The gunman then took off north on New King Road, investigators said.

Police have not named the victims, but said they were 18, 19 and 20 years old. Police said all three victims were rushed to UF Health Jacksonville with serious gunshot wounds.

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate, and detectives are working to find out whether any of the surrounding businesses had surveillance footage. The report on the shooting was routed to the JSO's Gang Unit.
