Passenger dies, 2 critically injured in St. Johns Bluff Road crash

Florida Highway Patrol says car's driver pulled in front of SUV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 72-year-old Jacksonville woman was killed and three others were injured Friday afternoon when a car pulled into the path of an SUV at a Southside Estates intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Alnora Chisholm was a passenger in a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta that was knocked off St. Johns Bluff Road by the impact of the crash and partially landed in a pond.

Troopers said driver Eugene Chisholm, 72, had stopped the car at a stop sign at the intersection of Bradley Road and St. Johns Bluff, but he pulled out into the path of a GMC Yukon. The car was broadsided by the SUV and pushed off the road.

Both Alnora and Eugene Chisholm and a 4-year-old boy were taken to UF Health Jacksonville -- the boy by air ambulance. The woman died at the hospital. A 36-year-old man in the car received minor injuries.

A spokesman for the JFRD said a good Samaritan got a child out of the car.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

All northbound lanes of St. Johns Bluff Road were closed from Alden Road to Interstate 295 or hours because of the crash, police said.

The FHP said charges are pending.
