JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who was found shot to death on May 28 behind a King Street home was identified by police on Thursday as 30-year-old Bernard Smithson, who lived less than a mile away.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Smithson was found about 9:40 a.m. behind an abandoned home on King just north of Interstate 10.
Homicide detectives said that day they were canvassing the neighborhood, asking people if they heard anything, and were looking for surveillance cameras on homes in the area.
On Thursday, police only said this continues to be an active investigation.
