Police name man killed in triple shooting off Golfair Boulevard

Gunmen approaches 3 men in their early 20s, begins shooting, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police on Tuesday said 24-year-old Malcolm Osborne was killed one week earlier in a triple shooting near a Northwest Jacksonville gas station, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's Office Homicide Sgt. David Smith said that night that three men in their early 20s were hanging out about 8 p.m. July 25 in a wooded area next to the Raceway station when someone approached them, began shooting, and then ran off.

Osborne died at the scene, Smith said, and the two others were taken to a hospital -- one with life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Smith said it was unclear whether the shooting was random or targeted.

When releasing Osborne's name, police said this remains an active homicide investigation and no other information was available at the time.
