Man shot, killed in West St. Augustine park, detectives say

Victim, Darrell Jenkins had arrest record in St. Johns County


ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 6 p.m. Saturday on Sanitorium Avenue near Hurst Street and West Kings Street.

Deputies said they were responding to reports of a verbal argument when they found the victim.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office confirms 29-year-old Darrell Jenkins of St. Augustine was shot. He was taken to Flagler Hospital, where he later died.

A man has been taken into custody for questioning. We're told detectives are also looking any other individuals who were in the area when the shooting occurred.
