Police: Man drowns in Beach Boulevard apartment pool

Someone performing CPR when police arrived early Sunday morning

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police said a man found in the pool of the Park at Levanzo apartments on Beach Boulevard died early Sunday morning.

According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide detective, officers called to the complex just west of Kernan Boulevard 1:40 a.m. found a person performing CPR on the man.

Rescue personnel arrived and took the man to Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Residents said they heard screaming from the pool area.

"It is so sad. We just got home at around 2 a.m. There were cop cars everywhere and it was really sad. We didn’t know what happened," resident Jodi McNair said. "(There was) police tape everywhere. There were cops out here and just people standing outside."

The pool hours are from dawn to dusk. The office to the complex was closed so no one was able to comment from the apartment complex.

Police have not released the man's name or what may have caused him to drown.

This incident remains under investigation, but no foul play was suspected.
