Nearly 168,000 pounds of raw meat recalled after products sold without federal inspection

No description found

A North Carolina meat company is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products after federal officials determined the items were produced and sold without federal inspection — and bore a false government stamp of approval.

Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in Lucama, N.C., announced the recall Sept. 22, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall covers approximately 167,639 pounds of product distributed under the A&D Foods label.

False inspection mark at center of recall

The recalled products carry a false USDA mark of inspection with establishment number “EST. 1363” — a number that does not have a federal grant of inspection. Officials say any product bearing that number should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat.

The items were produced on various dates prior to Sept. 22, 2026, vacuum-sealed and packed into cardboard boxes for shipment to A&D Foods, a distributor based in Georgia. From there, the products were distributed to retail stores and restaurants across the country. Individual consumer packages may not carry the original label, as retailers may have applied their own stickers with pricing and safe handling instructions.

What products are affected

The A&D Foods subject to the recall can be found here.

All items were packed in various-weight cardboard boxes containing individually vacuum-packed packages.

Health risks, what to do

FSIS says food produced without federal inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that pose serious health and safety risks. As of the recall announcement, no confirmed reports of illness or injury tied to these products had been reported.

Consumers who purchased any of the affected products are urged not to eat them. Retailers and restaurants are urged not to sell or serve them. The products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

Anyone concerned about a possible illness or injury should contact a healthcare provider.
